Fr. Brown Scholarship

The Father Richard H. Brown, S.J. Scholarship Fund was created to honor Father Brown for his many years of service to the families of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where he served 38 years as pastor. Father Brown has been a champion for youth and of Catholic education. to the children of Logan Heights, Sherman Heights and Golden Hills. This fund was created to provide scholarships to Our Lady’s School (OLS) students in need of financial assistance and to encourage graduating students to continue their Catholic education.

Our Lady’s School was created in 1973 when Our Lady of Guadalupe and Our Lady of Angel’s Schools merged into one school due to declining enrollments as a result of a tough economy and the displacement of many families with the construction of Interstate 5. OLS serves students in grades K thru 8 and is located on two campuses. The higher grades are housed in the former Our Lady of Angels School and the lower grades in the former Our Lady of Guadalupe School. OLS has an enrollment of  over 200 students and many of them come from lower income families.

The gala and the scholarship fund have provided over $100,000 to Our Lady’s School students.
