Bertha Olivas

Parish Secretary

Ext: 210

Many of you know me since I have been a member of our parish community for most of my life. I grew up in the parish, am an alumnus of Our Lady’s School and since I was 17 a faithful Guadalupana member. I have worked for the Diocese of San Diego for 44 years and I love the fact that the parish is my second home. I worked at Our Lady’s School for 35 years and currently serve as the secretary of the parish. I love helping people and serving our loving community and hope to continue here being an active member until God permits.

Hilda Tapia

Faith Formation

Ext: 217

Hilda comes to us from the Imperial Valley. Prior to becoming our Director of Faith Formation in 2014, she served in Faith Formation and Eucharistic Adoration ministries at Our Lady of Guadalupe parish in El Centro, CA. She also served in Youth and Young Adult Ministries in the Imperial Valley and other missionary experiences in Mexico and Jamaica.

She received a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from San Diego State University in 1995, and is a current graduate student of Theology at Loyola Marymount University specializing in Pastoral Theology. She is a former U.S. Government employee in which she dedicated 25 years of service while also teaching Adult Education ESL/Citizenship for 16 years.

Her journey here at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish has been very transformative and she hopes to continue bringing ecological awareness to her parish community through the lens of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’ (On the Care for Our Common Home). She further hopes to bring mental health awareness to Latinx families by bringing down the walls of stigma through shared experiences.

Some of her hobbies include swimming in the ocean and walking her dog, Bella.

Lupita Perez

Youth Minister

Ext: 217

Lupita has served at Our Lady of Guadalupe parish since 2016 in a variety of ministries. She first served as a Catechist in Family Catechesis, then became the assistant to the Director of Faith Formation.  She has served as part of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) leadership team and recently with part of the OLG Young Adult Task Force.  All while continuing to serve in ministry here at OLG, in 2018, she took on a position at the Diocese of San Diego as the administrative assistant to the chancellor and to the Office of Evangelization and Catechetical Ministry (OECM).

In 2013, Lupita had a strong calling to evangelize, and she embarked on a journey that would take her to new horizons and new life. She responded to the calling to go forth as a missionary for three years with the Missionary Servants of the Word, a missionary experience for laity.

Lupita is a proud aunt of six nephews and two nieces and godmother of six, which is her inspiration to collaborate with young souls. Lupita enjoys encountering God in nature.  She enjoys, traveling, spending time with friends and family. Her hope is to spread God’s love through a personal encounter with God, all leading to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

God is full of surprises; may we be open to His will.  Together with open hearts and minds we are united in Him!
