Our purpose is to make Ignatian spirituality accessible to the people of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and the San Diego area. How? By providing opportunities for parishioners to experience:
Developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), it is a practical method of discovering God’s will through prayer, reflection and self-scrutiny. It uses imaginative prayer, discernment of thoughts, interpretation of feelings, nurturing of great desires, and generous service.
They are the root of Ignatian Spirituality. They consist of different prayers, meditations and contemplations on the life, ministry, passion, and resurrection of Jesus. They are designed to draw people closer to God and to make decisions that follow God’s will. Read more here.
St. Ignatius was so touched by God’s mercy
…. and moved to love and follow Jesus
…..which inspired a love for others
…. such that he accomplished great works
…. that transformed lives.
“The Spiritual Exercises has been a real gift, I am more aware of the love that God has for me, to be in the presence of Jesus, and to seek and find God in the sacred scripture.”
“It opened up my heart and mind to God - to see God, walk with God, and make God a part of my everyday life.”
“It offers important gifts in these difficult times. The process was a ‘spiritual time out’ for me leading to the practice of contemplative prayer.”
